Rapid and uniform emergence are two important aspects to achieve good stand establishment and to increase yield and quality of harvested crops. Seed priming has become a common seed treatment to enhance stand establishment, especially in vegetable and flower seeds. Aspects related to seed priming and its effects and possibilities for future research and development are discussed.
