Abstract
Marta Vannucci is held to be one of Brazil’s most important scientists. Her international trajectory is explored, highlighting her work with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in the ambit of the regional project on mangroves in Asia and the Pacific. As a result of her work for this program, Vannucci published The mangroves and us, which is the object of critical analysis in this article.
