Physicians and pharmacists in Uberabinha (1890-1920): conflicts and disputes

Some results are presented of a study into the medical and pharmacological practices in São Pedro de Uberabinha, Minas Gerais state, (today Uberlândia), between the 1890s and the 1920s. The basic hypothesis is that during the period in question, there existed a health service market that was marked and to some extent constituted by conflicts and disputes headed by physicians and pharmacists. Based on this hypothesis, I attempt to identify the reasons and resources used by these subjects to demarcate their spaces and healing practices.
