ABSTRACT
This article reveals aspects of the history of education and inter-relates them with the city, its meshes and strategies of flow and occupation of the urban space in order to, from these lines, realize the city and its constraints that interweaved in the structuring and institutionalisation of the public primary school, in the form of School Group. The transformation brought, for few, by the construction and opening of these institutions in Aracaju, with their flashy ecletic buildings, in stark contrast with many unpaved streets and homes of simple houses, is the most visible face to create the identity of this school conceived by the Republic.
