Abstract:
In this paper, we set forth a methodological proposal for the history of political thought. Our method considers as interpretative criteria for the history of political thought the texts, contexts, and frameworks in which the intellectual productions of political thinkers are created. We believe those three informative criteria allow us to understand what authors tried to communicate with their writings. As an example, we discuss Karl Marx’s view of colonialism confronting our methodology with that employed by the literary critic Edward Said. Our methodology allows us to better attend to the dynamism of the German thinker’s thought as well as the changes in his considerations on colonialism
