Abstract
The present article aims to discuss how kenian writer Ngugi Wa Thiong’o approaches history within three of his books: A grain of wheat, Decolonizing the mind and Memories in times of war. At first, an introduction is elaborated about how the author was studied in Brazil, going on to a discussion of how he developed his literary historiography in three moments ranging from writing in English, going through essay criticism and arriving at mature consolidation of its approaches. The article is expected to contribute to studies in the theory of history, especially with authors outside the Europe-United States circuit.
