The article aims to analyze the Cuban Independence impact in Spanish and Spanish American intellectuals and the approximation reasons between them after the event. 1898 became a symbol date through the significatives changes that produced in Spanish American writers about the United State’s role in Latin America and about the Spain’s destiny after the loss of the last Spanish colony in America.
