Biodiversity survey of Bryophytes of Caatinga in Serra Barra do Vento, Serrinha, Bahia State, Brazil

ABSTRACT

The municipality of Serrinha is part of the Polígono das Secas and has some forest formations that deserve to have their flora investigated, considering that the knowledge about the composition of Bryophytes in the Caatinga Domain is underestimated. Serra da Barra do Vento is a Submontane Seasonal Forest formation and in this environment 71 species of bryophytes were found. Frullania intumescens (Lehm. & Lindenb.) Lehm. & Lindenb, Chionoloma orthodontum (Müll.Hal.) M. Alonso et al., and Chionoloma schlimii (Müll.Hal.) M. Alonso et al. are being cited for the first time for the Northeast region. And the species Fissidens brevipes Besch., and Campylopus griseus (Horsch.) A. Jaeger. are being cited for the first time for Bahia State.
