The work presents in general terms the political and teaching project for the implementation of a graduate course in Public Health at the Bahia Federal University, presided over by the Public Health Institute. It contains the main arguments justifying the setting up of the course and describes the expected profile of the graduates and the suggested design of the curriculum, ending with a feasibility study for implementation of the course, taking account of the present circumstances and political tendencies in healthcare and the qualification of healthcare professionals in Brazil.
