Reflections on care agendas and the black population in Brazil

Centered around the core theme “gender, care and the periphery”, this article is structured into four main areas: lack/difficulty of access to rights experienced by the black population, especially the right to education, focusing on race; the effects of Covid-19 and racialization; the effects of Covid-19 on the black population, with emphasis on black women; and reflections on care from the perspective/experiences of the black population. The text uses more direct dialogue, drawing on reflections constructed in texts written or co-authored by the author. By dialoguing with authors from the field of writing and anti-racist education, the text centralizes “gender and race” and points out the difficulties and possible ways out so that the black population, especially black women, can be in the zone of being.
