This essay discusses aspects of the relations between society, knowledge, and technology, taking into account Marxist theories on social production and education, as well Jean Piaget's socio-genetic perspectives. The hidden facet of these theories refers to the polemics on the cognitive possibilities revealed as a result of information and computer communication technology. Relativizing both one and the other approach, we seek - in the several construction steps - the theoretical references for the interpretation and evaluation of the aforementioned relations, focusing on the pedagogical action in environments equipped with information technology, as regards the opposition between autonomy and heteronomy.
