What stands out is the organic articulation between university, healthcare services and community organizations as the fundamental strategy guiding the processes of change toward social relevance. The essential characteristics of the innovative training proposals are: integrated curricula organized into thematic modules based on relevant real problems; active teaching-learning methodologies, that regard the students as subjects; practice within healthcare services and the community from the very beginning of the course; and educational and overall evaluation during the course of the whole process.
