Abstract:
This study explores the possibilities for development in poor Brazilian rural territories. It assesses the livelihoods of local farmers interviewed in 7,975 households in 37 different territories across the country. While 80% of farmers have potential for production in their farms, only 20% have good access to markets and agricultural policies.
