Entrepreneurship and endogenous development: bibliometric study

Abstract:

The endogenous character of development is an important instrument for building an environment capable of transforming a given geographical space. In this sense, local actors are living forces capable of creating situations conducive to the emergence of entrepreneurship. This research aims to characterize scientific production on entrepreneurship and its relationship with endogenous development. To achieve the goal of the research, a bibliometric research was carried out on the Scopus, EBSCO, and Web of Science databases, comprising an open period until 2019, resulting in 131 articles. The research was also characterized by a qualitative approach of an exploratory nature, with the objective of analyzing the discussions and possible relationships between entrepreneurship and endogenous development, using as a research technique the content analysis of the 20 most cited articles. The research base used quanttative principles with descriptive characteristics. The findings of the research did not confirm Lotka’s Law, that is, there is no evidence of elitism by authors. From the point of view of contributions, the inital research theses are confirmed, in which endogenous development is related to entrepreneurship. The findings show that entrepreneurship is an important instrument for the development of a region.
