In this work we discuss the debate on the environmental crisis and on the sustainable development model as a field of fights in which are articulated political and economic interests. We argue here that the discussion on those themes indicate the suppression of classic sociological categories as those of ideology, domination and conflict, presenting afterwards a purpose of reshaping of the mentioned discussion, which must be done in terms of the Political Ecology Theory. We finalize the article indicating some points to a research agenda on the global water resources crisis.
