The objective of this paper is to analyze the migration to rural areas of Goiás, relating to the development of the state and the selection of migrants. It is used data from Census 2010 and presented descriptive statistics on the volume of migrants, their origin and socioeconomic characteristics. The results show that there are significant socioeconomic differences among migrants from each region and that migrants from the North and Northeast are, on average, negatively selected.
