Limits and possibilities in the development of Community-Based Tourism strategies in quilombola territory

Abstract:

This article aims to understand the limits and possibilities of the diffusion of community-based tourism initiatives in the quilombola territory of São José da Serra, in the south of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Based on an ethnomethodological research, in which it was possible to know the rites, ceremonies, typical products, ways of life and beliefs of the people of São José da Serra, we found that exogenous and endogenous factors are obstacles to the diffusion of community tourism in the territory, while the cultural richness and scenic beauty of the place are possibilities for the development of community tourism in São José da Serra.
