Democracy and local development in rural settlements

This article refers to the importance of democracy in the processes leading to local development in rural settlements. The authors were based on the conceptual core of development in accordance with institutions like the University of Quebec, Canada, pointing to the settlement project Andalúcia, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, as a practical example of democracy as a factor to trigger the unfolding local potential.
