This study investigates the design, development and application of a Research Guiding Frame (RGF) to undergraduate students enrolled in a Reading and Writing Academic Texts class at the Federal University of Ceará. RGF is a tool that assembles student' research questions, hypotheses and objectives. The results showed that RGF helped students refine their research projects and academic writing skills.
