Sustainable mobility and the role of cities in territorial integration through the development corridor

Abstract:

The objective of this study was to present and discuss sustainable mobility strategies and the role of cities in territorial integration, in a transnational development corridor. This is an exploratory and explanatory study in line with the established objective, based on bibliographic and documentary sources, with the purpose of reflecting on the proposals of the Latin American Integration Route (RILA) as a development corridor. According to the research, it was possible to verify the important role played by sustainable mobility in the transport corridor, as a driver of development, as well as the strategic role of a multimodal node played by the city in a polynuclear urban network, especially when it adopts mobility measures sustainable urban. The sustainable mobility reflected in this study covers economic, social and environmental dimensions. We sought to raise awareness about the current importance of greater effort towards the use of digital technologies, detecting energy solutions for decarbonization in transport and seeking connections with other transport corridors, especially rail, for a structuring effect on the intended territorial integration, to be achieved from regional to transnational scales.
