Characterization of the district of Philadelphia as a potential for meetings and business tourism within the framework of the Bioceanic Corridor

Abstract

This article arises from the visit made to the area of influence of the Project in execution of the Bioceanic Road Corridor, which will link the Atlantic Ocean to the ports of Northern Chile, crossing a large territory of Paraguayan soil, which will speed up transport and trade between the countries of Brazil, Argentina and Chile, which, in turn, will generate local impacts. The idea of the document is to place the reader in the aforementioned region of Chaco, with the purpose of analyzing the potential of meeting and business tourism, as a positive effect of the economic development expected for the reviewed territorial extension, from the implementation of this large-scale work. A characterization of the district of Filadelfia, department of Boquerón, in the western region of Paraguay is presented, taking into account the factors and conditions that can be found at present, in terms of tourist, cultural and environmental services and products. In addition to direct observation of the places visited, which included the areas surrounding the city, interviews with local authorities and residents, and the available circuits offered to those who come to this city, updated data obtained from secondary sources have been considered. The study considers that the economic development driven by the Bi-Oceanic Corridor could have a positive impact on business and meeting tourism in Philadelphia.
