Development strategies and the expansion of capabilities in a productive group of settled rural women

Abstract:

This article aims at analyzing how access to different actors and assets enables generating capabilities which, in turn, may create sustainable trajectories of socioeconomic reproduction and enhancement in life conditions. The studied case is the group Pé-da-Serra, constituted by women from Santa Lúcia Settlement (Bonito, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil) where rural settled women work adding value to the cerrado products. Using semi-structured interviews, this article points out the importance of Pé-da-Serra group in providing greater empowerment and autonomy to his members, besides household’s income growth.
