ABSTRACT
Wildlife vertebrate species and their associated helminth endoparasites were listed for the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS). Records of 9 Acanthocephala species, 226 Nematoda species and 65 Platyhelminthes species (23 Cestoda and 42 Trematoda) were found associated with 20 fish species, 9 amphibian, 17 reptile, 103 avian, and 27 mammal species. This accounts for only 12% of the vertebrates known to occur in MS, highlighting that the majority of vertebrate wildlife has not been studied for endoparasites and how parasite diversity is still underestimated.
