A variety of beta-enaminones and beta-enamino esters can be synthesized by the reaction of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with amines in the presence of a catalytic amount of cobalt(II) chloride at room temperature under solvent-free condition. The experiment procedure is simple, and the products are straightforwardly isolated in high yields.
