INTRODUCTION: Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder, approximately 1% of the population worldwide have epilepsy. Moreover, people with epilepsy are more likely to die prematurely than those without epilepsy and the most common epilepsy-related category of death is sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). OBJECTIVES: The aim of this review is to discuss the definition, epidemiology, risk factors, etiology and preventative measures in the management of SUDEP from strategies adopted by corporate system experts. CONCLUSIONS: This is a interesting paradigm shift with significant implications for guiding research on SUDEP.
