ABSTRACT. The objective of present research was to study some aspects of the relationship between larvae of A. grisella and its parasitoid A. galleriae. A low frequency of host and parasitoid in active colonies of Apis mellifera was observed. Laboratorial tests showed that A. galleriae performed a greater number of ovipositions in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th instars, especially in the 5th and 6th instars. This event might be related to the shorter developmental period of the parasitoid larva in these instars. Parasitized larvae keep changing instars, probably as a way to supply the feeding needs of the parasitoid larva. A. galleriae is not capable of distinguishing between parasitized and non-parasitized larvae, being able to oviposite up to sixfold in one single larva.
