This article tries to render explicit the concept of Darstellung used by W. Benjamin to characterize the task of the philosophy on the preface of The origin of German Tragic Drama. It proceeds in three times: first, the difference between truth and knowledge; second, the relationship between truth, its own exposition and beauty; third, Benjamin's interpretation, rather peculiar, of the doctrine of the Ideas and the Symposion by Plato.
