LANGUAGE GENRES IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF COMPLEXITY

Abstract

This article, from the perspective of language as a complex adaptive system, argues that genres, whether oral, written, imagetic or those that bring together several representation modes, are attractors in a complex adaptive system, continuing a discussion already initiated by Larsen-Freeman and Cameron (2008). It defends the concept of genres of language to replace discursive genres or textual genres as an alternative to the terminological problem of this type of study in Brazil. It also brings a reflection on the conceptual integration of genres, complex semioses and multimodal experiences, followed by examples of texts and experiences with multimodal language actions.
