Open-access Representing and intervening: language, discursive practice and performativity

Based on the concept of discursive practice (MAINGUENEAU, 1989), which sees it as the simultaneous production of texts and of a community in a reciprocal relationship in which that community produces texts that in turn give visibility to it, this paper explores a key point of contact between language and reality. In order to approach two media news, the analysis of the performative nature of reported actions (AUSTIN, 1975) and the explicitation of singularities of the illocutionary (DELEUZE; GUATTARI, 1995) will be a device to argue that, before representing the world, speech is a way of intervening in it.
