The selection of Portuguese teachers and its relations to the teaching of writing

This article aims at analyzing an entrance exam which selected Portuguese teachers in a small city in the countryside of Minas Gerais. The analysis' main objective is to observe the relations between the linguistic contents included in the exam and the linguistic perspectives on the teaching of writing. The study employs a methodological interface which attempts to combine the qualitative analysis of the exam to the quantitative data of the candidates' performance. The theoretical framework includes Literacy Studies and Critical Discourse Analysis as a support for the discussion of the concepts of literacy, autonomous literacy and literacy event.
