Abstract:
Romance d’ A Pedra do Reino, written by Ariano Suassuna, has a complex and multifaceted narrative composition that provokes reflections about the Brazilian literary production of the 1970s, when it was published. Thus, this article intends to analyze the character Quaderna, one of the key components of this novel, based on the idea of this is a mosaic character, from which Suassuna's novel adds several visions of Brazil and builds a memory of the country's historical and political aspects beginning in 1930. Quaderna, through his critical and self-conscious posture, of intrusion into the plot, and also the narrator who is responsible for self-construction, participates in the vast panel of complex characters in Brazilian literature.
