Abstract
In this interview professor, literary critic and translator John Gledson addresses his work editing Machado de Assis's chronicles, an activity that he has carried out for over three decades now. Gledson discusses the current state of the editing of the chronicles and points out unique aspects in treating the texts of this genre in which Machado engaged from his youth until the final years of his life.
