Abstract
Some of the ideas, concepts and analysis of Louis Marcelin's doctoral thesis, are put into dialogue with research carried out by the author in Complexo do Alemão, Rio de Janeiro, during the 2010s. The ethnographic materialism and the procedural approach of the thesis, as well as the concepts of ‘house’ and ‘configuration of houses’, allows us to think about favelas and their houses as expressions of the reciprocal and always unfinished construction of people and the worlds they inhabit.
