The pollen tetrads of nine species of Ericaceae from Santa Catarina State have been studied. Between them only one especies of Gaultheria show smaller tetrads. The separation of the other species by pollen grain patterns is possible only between groups of species. Gaultheria was the only genus which present a relative greater variation on the pollen morphology. According to these results the study of the pollen grains of ericaceae seems to be not usefull in the taxonomy of species of this group.
