PRE-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING IN ADAPTED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: ANALYSIS OF INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION

Abstract

This study analyzed the scientific production about pre-service teacher training in the area of Adapted Physical Activity from an international perspective. A systematic literature review was carried out involving the interface between ‘Adapted Physical Activity’ and ‘Professional Training’. According to the results, the research was concentrated in countries of the Northern Hemisphere, with higher presence in the USA, and more opportunities for practical experience should be provided during pre-service training in order to associate theory with practice and the introduction of knowledge; to enable direct contact with people with disabilities; and to exert positive influence over students’ feelings and attitudes for working in APA. It concludes that more practical experiences must be provided during pre-service training.
