SPORT IN SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION: CONTENT WITH EMANCIPATORY POTENTIAL

Abstract

This research looks into the possibility for emancipation of sports practice by using a hybrid model for teaching school Physical Education based on models of Sports and Developmental Education. It is a case study including student’s accounts and statements and the teacher’s field diary. Forty-four classes were monitored and systematized based on students’ indication of the sports knowledge that awakened them to know-how, including futsal, basketball, and handball. The results indicated that the pedagogical experience centered on the hybrid model favors participatory and cooperative action, enabling peers’ emancipation demonstrated in motor and technical autonomy, as well as the sense of responsibility in developing the proposed sports activities, praising the fact that didactic treatment of the sports content may lead to inclusion and effective participation of students in Physical Education classes.
