Abstract
Changes in health care strategies aimed at greater autonomy and self-care for users with chronic health problems have been proposed. This study looks into perceptions and meanings ascribed by participants to health care strategies developed in weekly postural exercise meetings by users with chronic musculoskeletal pain at a Basic Health Unit. The study was qualitative, and the information collected from interviews with eight users was grouped in two units of meaning: Sharing experiences - care in each meeting; and Beyond meetings - on what one takes from life. We concluded that the most relevant factors to attend were the space for listening; sharing moments of relaxation; and exchange of experiences. There were the core elements for promoting emotional well-being and better understanding of pain.
