Abstract
First, the Zen-Buddhist short story of the ox and its shepherd will be interpreted to explore some relationships regarding Eastern thought and self-knowledge. Then the body and its relationship with yoga will be discussed, especially its more physical-bodily aspect - hatha yoga - seeking to demonstrate the essential and paradoxical dimension of its original roots, that is, awakening a more subtle view on the matter that makes up beings through study and practice of body and gesture. Finally, some elements of asana and meditation teaching for Physical Education students will be explained.
