ABSTRACT
This article aims to evaluate traits of “critical systems theory” (Kritische Systemtheorie). Through delineating the main aspects of this debate, exposes immanent limits put to its conception of critique and its sketch as a theory of society, hence taking up critical counterpoints anchored in Germany and Brazil. Thus one identifies original contributions and insufficiencies of this theoretical view, closing with some brief considerations about its relation to the center-periphery dynamics.
