ABSTRACT

This paper starts from a revision of Adorno’s late work, in particular his remarks on cinema, published in the 1960s. Our hypothesis is that cinema acquires relevance in Adorno’s late work not only through a shift in his position regarding that medium itself, but rather due to a broader transformation in his aesthetic position, encompassing a distinct view on the procedures of modern art and the complex relations between the different artistic genres.

[1] RAQUEL PATRIOTA DA SILVA [https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6801-3065] is a philosophy professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. She has a doctorate degree in Philosophy from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), with a research internship at Freie Universität Berlin. She graduated in Philosophy at Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) (2011) and also holds a master’s degree in Philosophy from that same institution (2014). She has experience in the field of Aesthetics, Critical Theory and Modernism.
