Against Textualist Fanaticism: Corruption, the Brazilian Way and the Rule of Law

ABSTRACT

This text organizes the Brazilian debate on corruption from its two extremes: “moral absolutism” and “moral panic”. Then, the text shows how these two positions can be classified as versions of what we call “textualist fanaticism” and points out the inconsistencies and risks of this position to Brazilian democracy.
