Contexto político-eleitoral, minorias religiosas e voto em pleitos presidenciais (2002-2006)

The article analyses the electoral behavior of evangelical voters in Brazil and their perceptions about the democratic regime. Based on the ESEB2002 and ESEB2006 results about the vote in presidential elections, the voting patterns show the presence of an evangelical identity group, instead of an evangelical interest group. In 2002, the evangelical vote associated to the candidate Garotinho in the first round was directed to the candidate Lula in the second round; in 2006 the evangelical vote did not have a specific candidate in the second round. The article also shows that the evangelical voters are more dissatisfied and ambiguous with the functioning of democracy in the country than the other voters.

Evangelical vote; religious cleavage; interest groups; satisfaction with democracy
