This article presents the construction of a model aiming to assist the Coordination of the Accounting Graduate Program of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil in its internal management by means of the evaluation of its performance with a view to promoting continual improvement. This study, of an exploratory nature, is divided into two moments: (i) review of the literature regarding the conceptualization of evaluation both in the Brazilian context as manifested in books and articles published in the 90´s and in the national and international context as manifested in reports on empirical studies published between the years 2001 and 2005, in which the procedures adopted in Educational Institutions are investigated; and (ii) a case study, drawing upon documental research, questionnaires and interviews. The tool selected for the model construction was the Multicriteria Decision-Aid Methodology - Constructivist, whose main concern is to aid in the modelling of the decisional context, from the beliefs, perceptions and values of the decision-makers involved in the decisional process, so as to allow for well informed decisions, resulting both in a reflection and in a self-knowledge process as well as in the identification of those aspects meriting attention towards the leveraging of the performance of the Program
