Project management and social action organizations and voluntary work of the employees have attracted the attention of managers and academics since 1990. This article examines the meanings of participation of employees in social projects and actions of the Espirito Santo State's Post Office, seeking to understand if the participation, through the Participatory Management related to Information Technology could be increased. This is an exploratory qualitative research. Data collection took place over 09 interviews,and 23 einterviews and participant observation. The results were subjected to content analysis. The directions refer to the satisfaction, omission, opportunity, frustration, spirituality and mission. It follows that participation is still weak, but latentlypotential. The employees point to the need for regional and corporate definitions to manage projects and social activities, establishment of channels for twoway communication and information access.
