Do saber aos saberes: comparando as noções de qualificação e de competência

This article examines the differences between the concept of qualification, from Sociology and Economy, and the notion of competence, based on Education and Psychology. There are two opposite thesis: the first one supports the idea of enlargement (amplification) and replacement of the concept of qualification, and the second, the conceptual displacement of the same concept. The article also examines the conceptual , experiential and social dimensions of qualification, and shows that the competence idea emphasizes the experiential dimension and weakens the social and conceptual ones. Searching for evidences, a qualitative research was conducted by comparing two cases: an organization from the automotive industry, and another from the telecommunications industry. The results corroborate the thesis of displacement and show that the experiential dimension is reinforced by the management of competences.
