Connections among Workers: a discussion about groups and team work

This article aims to go beyond the discourse of groups and work teams advancing discussion concerning connections among employees, from questions raised by the results obtained by a theoretical and empirical research conducted with middle managers in a hospital. The concepts of team and group conceived by the hegemonic discourse management are presented and problematized in view of the gap between discourse and practice in organizational routine. It is considered that the teams may work as a "containment" relationship to the possibility of spontaneous as "domesticated groups". However, it appears that other forms of connection among the workers are happening. Alternatives in the context of collective assemblages in which immaterial labor acquires unprecedented relevance are considered. Deconstructing the notion of team as a totality and unity, networks are woven among workers, offering a minimum of support and solidarity, affection and technical assistance.
