Organizational memory of communities of practice as a competitive advantage factor in organizations

This paper presents a literature review and a case study of the influence of OrganizationalMemory in Communities of Practice CoP as a competitive factor in organizations. It starts by appraising and analyzing the role of Organizational Memory in knowledge management, the vision of communities of practice and their interactions within organizations. It shows how the idea of building an organizational memory is of basicimportance in the success organizations which are at the cutting edge of technology. The survey reflects the visibility of all employees and contractors, including its leaders identifying the main factors of competitive advantage demonstrating its perceptions of impact on the business. The results show the potential CoP can offer to businesses and the competitive advantage because they expand the performance capacity of project teams. We conclude that CoPs are key elements to building social capital that serves to enable knowledge sharing and to promote innovation.
