Quality of Life at Work in a Medical Regulation Centre in a Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU)

This article describes and analyzes the quality of work life of professionals at a medical regulation centre of a Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU). This is descriptive, quantitative and qualitative research, based on the theoretical references of Walton (1973) and Hackman and Oldham (1975). Overall, the results confi rm a satisfactory level of quality of working life, with an emphasis on aspects of "growth opportunity", "motivational potential of the task" and "social relevance" to help, either directly or indirectly people who require care. Despite the favorable results, the subject's discourse indicates the need for improvements in the aspects of infrastructure, adequacy of timetables and workdays with the reality of the city, number of visits, dialogue between the SAMU and hospital and pre-hospital fi xed services, as well as public awareness. It was noticed that there was managerial support to address these problems and a constant search for improved quality of work life can contribute to the maintenance of professionals in their jobs.
