Abstract:
The objective of this work was to study the biology of Strepsicrates smithiana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) and to determine its infestation on strawberry guava (Psidium cattleianum). The biological parameters were evaluated, a fertility life table was elaborated, and moth infestation was settled in a strawberry guava orchard. The period from egg to adult was 43.4 days, and survival was 21.3%. On average, females laid 135 eggs, and longevity of males and females was 16.5 and 17.6 days, respectively. Strepsicrates smithiana increases 32 times each generation, whose average duration is 45 days. The highest infestation was recorded in January.
