This paper presents and discuss the main components of an evaluation program of the university teaching quality or teaching excellence, known as circular evaluation. These components are: 1) evaluation of teaching quality from student's judgments, 2) faculty evaluation of their relationship and interaction with students, and evaluation of the academic setting in which their teaching and research activities are carried out, and 3) faculty evaluation of their students' evaluations (meta-evaluation). The purposes and the main advantages of this evaluation system are presented and discussed. The article indicates that, under appropriate conditions, the scales for student's evaluation of teaching are multidimensional, reliable and stable.
